Steve's Story
Steve has been a client of Riverfall’s since early 2018, when he contacted us to help him with planning for his eventual retirement.
For the first time in his adult life he felt that he had spare capital and wanted to be “grown up” about it.
Here’s what he had to say about working with Riverfall Financial.
What made you seek advice?
“For most of my life I have wilfully neglected any consideration of my finances as it didn’t really chime with the sense of myself as an ex-hippy leftie working with the poorest children and families.
My first real job was on a Playbus in the 70’s. It was with a Borough Council in London which had a very good pension scheme, but I withdrew my contributions when I left after 5 years and spent the money on a holiday.
After that life happened for a long time leading up to the shocking realisation that I had passed the age of 60 and retirement was actually a looming reality.
I looked at the bits and pieces of pension pots from a variety of different jobs but had no idea what it amounted to or how to organise it… so I panicked, Googled financial advisers and was lucky enough to find Jessica at Riverfall.”
What’s been the biggest benefit of working with Riverfall?
“In a nutshell, the reassurance and peace of mind about something that I would otherwise find incomprehensible and stressful.
It’s a whole other language and how it becomes filtered down in to being explained in plain English remains a mystery to me.”
How has Riverfall made a difference to your lives
“I am about to retire and am approaching it with anticipation rather than fear. I know what my financial parameters are and am happy to enjoy my retirement within them.
The wonderful, colourful graphs and projections that the team produce for me show how the little I had has been made efficient and transformed in to a much better income in retirement than I had feared.
I have no idea how she did it, but I have learnt to just say ‘Yes Jess’ because I trust her entirely.”
